COVID-19 Update
Aloha Everyone,
With over 218,827 cases to date, the novel Coronavirus is an ever evolving global situation. “Governor Ige urges visitors to stay away for 30 days.”
Para the Governor’s address, Hawaii is implementing the following:
Directing all bars and clubs to close. Restaurants should go to take-out only, Ige said, and tour companies should limit or shut down operations immediately.
Asking tourists to stay away for at least 30 days.
Bolstering screening of cruise ship passengers, with temperature checks and questions about symptoms and recent travel. Airports would also be bolstering their procedures.
Stopping all non-essential state travel, including inter-island travel. Those who do have to travel will have to go into self-isolation for 14 days.
Directing all movie theaters, visitor attractions and places of worship to close.
Closing all state libraries, parks, golf courses, events at the State Capitol building, Aloha Stadium and Hawaii Convention Center.
While Hawaii has always remained a high tourism destination residents are worried. “Dozens on Molokai protest at airport, urging visitors to go home. About 60 Molokai residents staged a protest at the island’s airport on Wednesday morning. They’re saying they don’t want any more visitors coming to the island as a precaution against coronavirus.” Read the full article here and here.
In addition the University of Hawaii has moved all their classes online and schools are closed for the time being. Grocery stores shelves are bare and will be closing at 9pm. Many food establishments will be takeout only or will be closed.
Please know that in support of our community effort, if you are unable to travel to Hawaii and we have scheduled a session, your deposit will go towards rescheduling.
As a small business and part of the travel and tourism industry it is a very challenging time as everyone of us are being affected by this global pandemic shutdown. I’m hopeful that with the strict precautions in place Hawaii will bounce back quickly.
How you can help
Reschedule the trip to Hawaii.
Take the necessary precautions by washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. That’s singing “Happy Birthday” 2 times, “Toss a coin to your witcher,” or maybe even “Baby Shark!”
Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Implement social distancing. A 6 foot space is recommended.
Stay at home (especially if you have flu like symptoms or have come into contact with someone with flu like symptoms).
Helpful items to have on hand:
Hand Sanitizer
Masks
Gloves
Toilet Paper
For more information check the CDC website.
Stay safe! We will get through this!
