Hawaii Travel Update 2/15
Aloha everyone,
I wanted to write a quick overview of current events that affect our Hawaii paradise. I have fantastic news to share! As always, please check the Hawaii Safe Travels website if you are traveling to any of the Hawaii Islands and the other source pages that are linked in this blog. This is meant to be more of a summary rather than an actual report of news. I hope you enjoy my cliff notes. =)
The number of Covid-19 cases has gone down in Hawaii and we could be moving to tier 3 as soon as next month! In order for us to qualify for tier 3 our case average must be less than 50 per day for a 2 week period.
I’m so excited about this because it means that we are moving in the right direction and on the road to economic recovery! Tier 3 will allow for group gatherings of up to 10 people to socialize and hang out at beaches. This also allows for more people to be in retail shops and doubles the capacity in restaurants! The governor has to restated/extended tier 2, because of the recent holidays (read about it here), but Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Other movements – there are several airlines which have a preclearance program to bypass the screening process in Hawaii. Check out: Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and United airlines. These programs allow you to show your Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) test results prior to departure. I can’t emphasize how these programs will save you a lot of travel time and headache! There is nothing worse than trying to plan a secret proposal or and having to turn back at the airport after landing in Hawaii. I recently had a few clients that had to return to their place of origin which delayed their proposal and Hawaii vacation. This is just too much stress
February 18th is also a big day! “Select non-stop flights on Delta Airlines and United Airlines can enroll in CLEAR Health Pass to link their test results to their verified identify before traveling.”
I’m really looking forward to an easy full proof way for visitors to travel to Hawaii. There have been so many bumps in the road and vaccinations have been steadily rolling out. I’m so happy to read that Hawaii has rolled out more than 94,000 vaccinations! Go Hawaii go! *happy dance* The general consensus of the locals is that we are ready to welcome tourism back with open arms and kick start our economy.
Soon everyone will be able to go back to work and visitors can enjoy a relaxing vacation in Hawaii, one of the safest spots in the nation. Also, destination weddings and family portraits will be back! We can have a group of up to 10 people without worrying about getting a citation for violating Covid-19 policies. 2021 you are looking brighter as the days go by!
Happy Lunar New Year!
