Para Siempre: A Timeless Portrait Session Gift for Rachael's Birthday

For Rachael, a recent birthday brought about a fabulous surprise portrait session gifted by her thoughtful friends. The session, aptly named "Para Siempre," or forever in Spanish, allowed Rachael's to celebrate her special day in style. Rachael's friends reached out to Jolene Kaneshige Photography a few weeks prior to her photo session and we discussed what location would be the perfect fit. Honolulu has so many amazing locations, but for this portrait session, downtown near the State Capitol stood out. There was even a field of pinwheels next to the state building which provided a great contrast to the nearby buildings.

On the day of the photoshoot excitement filled the air. Rachael’s friends told her that they were taking her out to an early dinner and brought the very unsuspecting Rachel to our meeting spot to introduce us! She was so surprised, over the moon, and impressed by the thoughtfulness and kindness of her friends and so our photo adventure began!

Rachael wore a very vibrant yellow and white dress with cowboy boots which showed off her artistic urban sense of style. She has such a warm and friendly personality and was all smiles for camera. You can defiantly tell that when she smiles, she lights up the room! Her poses were also so on pointe! You can tell that this is her jam! This Queen slayed!

My favorite spots during this downtown Honolulu portrait session were defiantly the field of pin wheels and the fountain. It was very special as the decorations around the capitol are seasonal and you may never see them again. We were extremely lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

“Para Siempre,” goes beyond the click of a camera, it reflects the bond between friends. Moments pass by all too quickly and I view myself as a type of historian in a way. Photo documentation was never really something I could see myself doing when I was younger, but capturing moments like this have become so meaningful to me.

Rachael, I hope that this portrait session gift is a reminder to slow down and appreciate the connections you mean along the way through life’s journey as life is full of so many surprises.
