Under Hawaiian Skies: A Surprise Engagement to Remember
Beneath the warm embrace of Hawaiian skies, on the picturesque Waialae Beach on the island of Oahu, love took center stage as Joe and Megan embarked on a journey that would forever change their lives. This is the tale of a surprise engagement planned by Jolene Kaneshige Photography and her team of amazing ninjas.
Joe reached out to us a few weeks prior to his proposal and wanted to surprise Megan with romantic picnic to showcase his big moment. He also told us that she loved tulips. Since sunset can be a busy time at the beach we suggested a picnic proposal at Waialae Beach.
Whenever clients want an intimate moment away from the busy streets of Waikiki, but don’t want to go too far, we like to recommend Waialae Beach since its a quick 10-15 minute drive and has a wonderful easy going island vibe.
The Proposal:
For the proposal, Joe donned an aloha shirt that mirrored the earthy hues of the Hawaiian landscape, while Megan radiated elegance in a stunning blue dress. Their attire not only showcased their individual styles but also symbolized the fusion of their personalities. As the gentle ocean breeze swayed the palm trees, the couple walked down the beach and found our special picnic that awaited them. Nearing the picnic spot the magic of the moment began to unfold as Joe got down on one knee. Joe took Megan’s hand and looked deep into her eyes. His voice trembled a little as the anticipation of this moment gave him butterflies. Megan was so excited that she cried tears of joy when Joe asked her “Will you marry me?” Megan's eyes sparkled with joy, and the answer was an unequivocal "Yes!" We were all hiding nearby and taking stealthy photos like good ninjas and eventually came out to yell “Congratulations!“
The Engagement Photoshoot
Joe and Megan enjoyed the lavish picnic that we set up for them. I think its much needed after such a nerve-wracking emotional proposal. It also gave Megan some time to freshen up her make up and enjoy some sparkling cider. Alcohol isn’t allowed on Hawaii beaches, but we still make do with our bottle of bubbly. After their “champagne” toast Joe presented Megan with a bouquet of tulips made by our talented in house floral designer. She was beyond impressed and all smiles. Our ninja photographer Jolene then lead Joe and Megan around to our favorite spots on the beach snap some photos to commemorate this special event.
