The Valentine's Photo Shoot

Rose Centerpiece

What’s more romantic than beautiful roses; more specifically, the intoxicating, red rose?! This gave way to a fabulous photoshoot idea! I just wanted to share a little behind the scenes’ secrets on our scheming session!  Recently, I shared with our Ninja Boss (head photographer and proposal planner) an idea for a beautiful heart layered in fresh red roses with some delicious treats: edible roses made out of apples and some puff pastry!  Naturally she was incredibly excited and we both chatted about all the possibilities!  When I got home I had a eureka moment and realized that this project could have multiple applications! Here’s my short list! I hope it inspires you in planning your destination proposal in Oahu, Hawaii and romancing your partner!

In action:

  • A romantic dinner, afternoon tea, or lavish beach picnic for two with a surprise proposal. Hide the ring in plain sight or unveil it after the meal.

  • DIY project for you both to do together.  Slip the ring box in at the end while setting up the table.

  • Create a gorgeous rose heart and dessert ahead of time.  Box it up and have your partner unwrap it.

The R&D (research and development) session!

First, our Ninja Boss did some research on recipes in order to create the apple roses in our test kitchen!  Next, was getting the technique down, and doing a little baking of our own! It was a wonderful time and the apple roses were delicious! It's so much fun to have a partner in crime.  On a side note, can you imagine doing this or a similar activity with your partner?  Spending quality time together and being creative is special.  Not to mention, the outcomes are delicious!

After that, it was my turn to hit the drawing board. Since our scheming session, I had this idea for a heart centerpiece that could hold a ring, and would be gorgeous alongside our edible apple roses! Once I sketched out the shape and a general idea of how it would look, I planned the mechanics behind the centerpiece. There were so many questions running through my mind such as “How do I create it?” and “What supplies do I need?” Once everything became clear I was able to start selecting the type of roses I would be utilizing for the design.  It was pure bliss to find the perfect bloom that would bring this dream to life!

Once the flowers were in I constructed the base then started crafting the sweet romantic rose centerpiece! There was some trial and error along the way, but I am incredibly proud of the finished product! Pictured above is our Valentine’s Triple Threat of Roses, Rose Petals, and Apple Roses! The last thing we did was have a small party (of course) to enjoy the fruits of our labor!

I hope you were inspired by our R&D session and that it will inspire you to level up your destination proposal on Oahu, Hawaii!   Need more ideas for proposals? Check out our blogs! Ready to plan your surprise engagement? Send us a message! Let’s tell your love story!
